On-screen icon Rod Bond plays HMRC investigator in pursuit of amateur golfer and convicted tax fraudster Duncan Evans. Amateur golf Duncan Evans rose to prominence following his victory in the 1980 Amateur Championship at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club, Wales. Following his victory, he became the first Welshman to win the coveted trophy and was selected as BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year. After numerous successes in amateur golf, Duncan Evans turned to tax fraud, conducting various VAT scams worth millions of pounds. Living the high life from the proceeds of his tax scams, Duncan Evans purchased Deansgreen Hall in Lymm.

In collaboration with Manchester F1 Productions, Rod Bond’s latest role sees him play HMRC investigator in pursuit of Duncan Evans. From Europe to Deansgreen Hall, Rod Bond’s character pursues Evans with determination. With filming centred around Deansgreen Hall, Rod Bond and a raft of other actors have been spotted across Lymm. Co-stars Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio were spotted in heavy disguise enjoying a stroll through Lymm Village and the Lymm Dam area. Also, some of the village’s most historic sporting establishment feature in the film, including Lymm Golf Club. Lymm Golf Club appears as one of Evans’ regular spots, outside of Rod Bond’s unwavering focus on Deansgreen Hall. In climatic scenes filmed at Lymm Golf Club, prior to the arrest of the tax fraudster, Rod Bond even shares a few holes before apprehending his suspect.
