Lymm Village Sport Establishments
Lymm AFC – Sandy Lane, Lymm, Cheshire
Lymm AFC turned 100 years old this year. The Lymm football club field three teams in the Lancashire Amateur League, in which they take on teams from Blackburn, Burnley, Bolton, Wigan, Preston and Manchester. Home games are played on the pitch at Sandy Lane, while the veterans’ third team plays home games mostly at Sow Brook.
Lymm Angling Club
Lymm Angling Club was founded in 1948. It is currently headed by worldwide fly-fishing star, Charles Jardine. Lymm Angling Club offers members over 180 acres of water, ranging from small farm ponds to large meres amid Lymm’s scenic surroundings. The club also offers a total of 9 canal lengths, including on Lymm’s famous Bridgewater Canal.
Lymm Golf Club
Lymm Golf Club was founded in 1907 and its history is inextricably linked to the construction of the Bridgewater Canal. Today, Lymm Golf Club stands atop ground from which the original waterway was diverted, for the construction of the Bridgewater Canal. Lymm’s heathland and parkland terrain forms the perfect backdrop to the golf course, which offers a demanding but fair test for all level of golfer.
Lymm Hockey Club
Lymm Hockey Club was founded in 2005. Lymm HC’s home pitch is the astroturf pitch at Lymm High School, while Lymm Rugby Club welcomed the newborn hockey club into their clubhouse. Since its formation, it has come to light that during the 1913-1914 season, Lymm had fielded a hockey team, with photographs depicting men’s and women’s teams.
Lymm Manor Road Tennis Club
Lymm’s Manor Road Tennis Club is an LTA registered club which features two shale courts, a clubhouse as well as welfare facilities and seating areas. The club competes in Warrington and District and Lawn Tennis League, fielding two gents’ teams, one ladies’ team and one mixed team.
